Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Scott Zhang is the founder and CEO of Shanghai Magic Wheel Technology Ltd.Co. Inherited from his over three decades’ experience at Honeywell, he established Magic Wheel which is specialized in developing and commercializing technologies in industrial sectors, with a group of seasoned executives in international operations and R&D management.

Prior to founding Magic Wheel, Scott was the President of Honeywell China. He was responsible for executing Honeywell’s growth goals and business development strategies within China, the company’s single largest country market outside the U.S., with $3B revenue, 11,000+ employees spread across 30+ commercial offices and 20+ manufacturing plants and engineering centers.

Prior to this role, Scott served as the Global President of Honeywell Technology Solutions (HTS). He was responsible for managing $660 million technology research, development and engineering (RD&E) funding and 9,000 plus engineers and technologists across its centers in India, China, Mexico and the Czech Republic to support the company growth, especially in high growth regions (HGRs).

In his global role, Scott built the structure and strategy to grow and transform HTS from a back-end engineering service center to an innovation hub and entrepreneurial incubator, leveraging the organization’s scale, footprint and software depth to create a unique and innovative portfolio that includes new product development, software as a service, and engineering solutions to enable Honeywell’s breakthrough growth and meet the needs of its global base. The HTS Mexico center that Scott established from scratch is now the powerhouse to boost Honeywell’s growth in Latin America, while the innovation incubator he set up led to the growth of two standalone successful companies.

Before that, Scott served as the Vice President and General Manager of Asia Pacific for Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT) group, where he tripled the revenue and expanded the Asia businesses with an R&D center, 10 production facilities (including four joint ventures) and 19 commercial offices.

Scott worked for Honeywell UOP for 18 years, where he gained extensive experience in research, technology, commercial and new business development. As the chief representative of UOP in China, he maintained UOP’s status as a preferred vendor and trusted partner for key Chinese refiners, while expanded the business to the private sector. He introduced new Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) and OleflexTM propylene dehydrogenation technologies to China to address feedstock challenges and meet the growing demand for light olefins.

Scott graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He earned a master’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also earned an M.B.A. from the Kellogg – HKUST Executive MBA program.
